Juan Pérez Moral, the municipal president of San Juan Tianguismanalco in Puebla, has been arrested following an investigation into allegations of sexual assault and rape. The Fiscalía General del Estado de Puebla confirmed the arrest, stating that the incident allegedly occurred on February 10, 2026, while the victim was performing her duties at the municipal government facilities.

Pérez Moral, also known as ‘El Mantecas’, was apprehended in the Buena Vista locality of Atlixco. During the operation, his minor children were present and were temporarily placed under the care of authorities until family members could collect them.

A control judge has officially linked the mayor to the legal process and imposed mandatory pretrial detention. A two-month period has been established for the completion of the complementary investigation.
