Argentine municipal workers engage in salary and union disputes

Municipal workers in various Argentine regions are engaged in labor negotiations and disputes regarding wages and benefits. In Valle Viejo, the SOEM union rejected a municipal proposal to gradually incorporate a 10% increase of a requested 20,000 pesos, threatening a strike if a direct increase to the base salary is not achieved.

In another municipality, an agreement was reached between the local government and the STM and UPCN unions for a 13.5% increase to the basic salary, to be implemented in two stages during August and October.

Meanwhile, in Concordia, municipal workers have petitioned the City Council to create an ordinance allowing for the direct and voluntary payment of union dues, seeking to end automatic deductions from their paychecks. Additionally, a union has requested a dialogue table to update regulations governing the professional career of medical and non-medical staff at the Municipal Hospital to better reflect current healthcare needs.
