Atlético Madrid unveils 2026‑27 kit without Julian Álvarez, sparking transfer speculation

Atlético Madrid presented its new 2026‑27 home jersey, a red‑and‑white striped shirt with a blue collar and white detailing that recalls the 1995‑96 double‑winning kit. The promotional photos featured Marcos Llorente, Marc Pubill, Giuliano Simeone and Álex Baena, but omitted Argentine striker Julian Álvarez. His absence has intensified rumours about his future, as he remains under contract until 2030 and has a €500 million release clause. Barcelona are reported as the preferred destination, but Atlético have said they will not sell to a Spanish rival and have also ruled out Real Madrid. Other clubs mentioned as possible suitors include Arsenal, Paris Saint‑Germain and Arsenal, while a move to Arsenal or PSG has been floated as a potential resolution.

During a BTS concert at the Metropolitano, group member Suga unexpectedly displayed the unreleased kit, making the first public glimpse before the club’s official launch. Atlético’s communications team reposted the images without comment. The club has opened sales of the new jerseys, including versions bearing Álvarez’s name and number, despite the ongoing transfer deadlock.
