Atlético de Madrid supporter dies at Metropolitano Stadium

An Atlético de Madrid season ticket holder passed away after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest while attempting to access the Riyadh Air Metropolitano stadium. The incident occurred during the pre-match period of a LaLiga EA Sports fixture against RC Deportivo de A Coruña.

Club medical services responded immediately and performed resuscitation efforts, but were unable to revive the individual. Atlético de Madrid issued an official statement expressing condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

According to the referee's report by José María Sánchez Martínez, security officials from the National Police, the club's security director, and the LaLiga match director informed the referee of the death during halftime. Because the incident occurred outside the seating areas and did not impact the match's development, authorities determined the game could proceed as scheduled.
