Atlético Madrid offers Julian Álvarez €10 million‑a‑year contract to stay
Atlético Madrid has presented Argentine forward Julian Álvarez with a renewal proposal worth roughly €10 million net per season, aligning his salary with goalkeeper Jan Oblak. The offer would keep him at the club until at least June 2030 and includes a release clause exceeding $500 million. The club, led by president Enrique Cerezo and manager Diego Simeone, says it has no intention of selling the player, although it would consider a “multimillion‑dollar” offer if Alvarez pushes for a move. Álvarez, who scored 20 goals in 49 appearances and helped Atlético reach the Champions League semifinals, has not yet responded to the contract on the table.
Simeone commented after a 5‑1 defeat to Villarreal, “It’s not a question for me, it’s a question for Julian. He’s big enough now to decide for himself.” The renewal talks underscore Atlético’s aim to protect its €100 million investment in the forward, acquired from Manchester City, and to retain a key figure in its squad.
