Atlético Madrid signs Grimaldo and prepares for Kang‑in Lee transfer

Atlético Madrid completed the signing of Spanish left‑back Alejandro Grimaldo from Bayer Leverkusen for a reported fee of around €20 million. The 30‑year‑old, who spent his youth at Barcelona and impressed in Germany with goals, assists and set‑piece ability, expressed a desire to return to La Liga and will add depth to Diego Simeone’s flank options.

Separately, South Korean attacking midfielder Kang‑in Lee, 25, is slated to leave Paris Saint‑Germain and join Atlético. The club’s medical director, Dr José María Villarón, traveled to Korea to conduct Lee’s health assessment at the Dorimdong Study Center, indicating that the transfer is progressing quickly after three seasons in Paris.

Both moves aim to strengthen Atlético’s squad ahead of the upcoming season, with Grimaldo providing immediate defensive versatility and Lee representing a potential creative addition.
