Julian Alvarez remains at Atletico Madrid after club rejects Barcelona's €100‑200 million bids
Atletico Madrid chief executive Miguel Ángel Gil Marín publicly confirmed that the club will keep Argentine striker Julian Alvarez, rejecting Barcelona’s offers of €100 million, €150 million and €200 million. He said, “I have no doubt Atletico is the place in the world for Julian and he is the perfect centre‑forward for us.”
Barcelona president Joan Laporta countered that the bid is not unlimited and warned the club will set a deadline if Atletico does not change its stance. Laporta added that the forward has expressed a desire to leave and that he remains a top target for the Catalan side.
The dispute has intensified hours before the World Cup 2026 final, with Alvarez reportedly upset that Atletico has broken a promise made earlier in the summer to allow a move if a suitable offer arrived. The saga continues to dominate the summer transfer market and could affect the planning of both clubs.
