Atlético-MG faces Montevideo City Torque in Copa Sudamericana semifinal
Atlético-MG is set to face Montevideo City Torque at the Estadio Centenario in Uruguay for the second leg of the Copa Sudamericana semifinal. Following a dominant 3-0 victory in the first leg at Arena MRV, the Brazilian side holds a significant advantage and can advance to the final with a win, a draw, or a loss of up to two goals.
Under the management of Eduardo Domínguez, Atlético-MG enters the match with an eight-game unbeaten streak. However, the squad faces several key absences due to injury, including goalkeeper Everson, defender Ruan Tressoldi, and midfielders Fred and Gustavo Scarpa. The status of striker Thiago Borbas remains uncertain following a recent thigh injury.
Montevideo City Torque must overcome the three-goal deficit to stay in the competition. The Uruguayan side has maintained an 11-match unbeaten home record in Conmebol competitions and will rely on tournament top scorer Salomón Rodríguez to lead their offensive efforts. A victory by four or more goals is required for Torque to advance directly, while a three-goal win would force a penalty shootout.
