Midfielder Reinier, 24, of Clube Atlético Mineiro, insulted a supporter after the team's 0‑0 draw with Esporte Clube Juventude in the first‑leg of the Copa do Brasil round of 16. In the heat of the moment he shouted a profanity at the fan while the reserves were doing post‑match training on the pitch. The incident was captured on video and spread on social media.

Reinier later posted an apology on his Instagram stories, saying he was "completely wrong" and that he acted in a heated state. Atlético Mineiro released an official statement confirming that Reinier received a formal warning and that internal disciplinary measures would be taken. The club emphasized that supporters are its greatest asset and must be treated with respect.

The two clubs will meet again for the second leg of the tie, with the aggregate score still level and a possible penalty shoot‑out if the tie remains even.
