Atlético-MG nears deal for Fenerbahçe midfielder Fred

Atlético-MG is nearing a deal to sign midfielder Fred from the Turkish club Fenerbahçe. The club's CEO, Pedro Daniel, confirmed that negotiations are advanced and described the player as a fantastic addition regarding technical skill, performance, and identity.

The transfer is expected to be finalized if the player is released without a transfer fee, aligning with the club's current policy of investing in free agents or loans. Fred, a native of Belo Horizonte and former youth player for Atlético-MG, is reportedly already making arrangements with his family to relocate to the city.

If the move is completed, Fred will become the fourth reinforcement for Atlético-MG during the 2026 World Cup break, joining Léo Duarte, Kevin Castaño, and Thiago Borbas.
