Atlético Mineiro advances to Copa Sudamericana final

Atlético Mineiro has secured a place in the 2026 Copa Sudamericana final after defeating Montevideo City Torque. Despite a 2-0 loss in the second leg at the Estadio Centenario in Uruguay, the Brazilian side advanced with a 3-2 aggregate score, building on their 3-0 victory in the first leg.

During the match, Atlético Mineiro played much of the second half with ten men following the expulsion of defender Alan Franco. Montevideo City Torque scored late through Kevin Silva and Gary Kagelmacher, but could not overcome the aggregate deficit. Atlético's goalkeeper, Gabriel Delfim, was noted for several key saves during the match.

The final is scheduled for November 21 at the Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez in Barranquilla, Colombia, where Atlético Mineiro will face Argentina's Boca Juniors. This marks the second consecutive year Atlético Mineiro has reached the final, having lost to Lanús in 2025.
