Atlético Morelia appoints Argentine coach Hugo Colace
Club Atlético Morelia announced the hiring of Argentine Hugo Colace as its new head coach, signing him to a one‑year contract. Colace becomes the club’s eleventh manager in six years, replacing Mario Ortiz, who was dismissed after the second round of the Apertura 2026.
The appointment was made at a press conference in Estadio Morelos, where sporting director José Luis Cendejas introduced Colace. The 42‑year‑old coach brings experience from assistant roles at Santos Laguna and Necaxa in Mexico and a recent spell as head coach of Atlético Tucumán in Argentina. He pledged an intense, passionate style of play and asked fans for their support as he seeks to restore the team’s competitive edge in the Liga de Expansión.
