Atlético Piauiense wins Taça Brasil Futsal title

Atlético Piauiense has won its first Taça Brasil Divisão Especial de Futsal title after defeating Traipu in a penalty shootout. The match, held in São João do Jaguaribe, ended 1-1 in regulation time and remained tied after extra time.

During the penalty shootout, goalkeeper Lambão secured the 4-3 victory by defending a shot and capitalizing on a miss. With this championship, Atlético Piauiense has qualified for the 2027 Supercopa, a qualifying tournament for the Libertadores de Futsal.

Coach Deividy Hadson, who was named best coach of the 2026 edition, credited the squad's commitment despite having only four months to prepare mid-season. Hadson noted the significance of the victory for the state of Piauí, emphasizing that the team succeeded despite not being considered favorites.
