Liga MX: Chivas and Atlas secure key victories in Matchday 14
Matchday 14 of the Liga MX Apertura 2026 featured several decisive results as teams battle for Liguilla qualification. Chivas de Guadalajara secured a 1-0 away victory against Rayados de Monterrey at the Estadio BBVA. Roberto Alvarado scored the winning goal in the 9th minute following a turnover by Víctor Guzmán. Chivas goalkeeper Raúl Rangel was instrumental in the win, notably saving a penalty from Lucas Ocampos. The victory moves Chivas to 26 points, placing them second in the standings.
Atlas earned a high-scoring 4-3 victory over Puebla at the Estadio Jalisco. Despite Puebla taking an early lead and later leading 2-1, Atlas staged a comeback fueled by a brace from 19-year-old José Martín. The match was marked by intensity and a red card for Puebla’s Alonso Ramírez.
Other notable results included a 1-1 draw between León and Toluca, a result that extends Toluca’s winless streak to six matches despite keeping them temporarily in second place. Pumas and Tigres also played to a 1-1 draw at Estadio Olímpico Universitario, a match that featured a tribute to Hugo Sánchez. The draw complicates Pumas' path toward the Liguilla.
