Athletic Club reports record revenues amid projected losses

Athletic Club has reported record-breaking financial results for the 2025-26 season, achieving total revenues of 192.9 million euros. This represents a 20.4 million euro increase from the previous year, driven largely by participation in the Champions League, which boosted sports competition income by 19%. The club also recorded a net profit of approximately 21 million euros and an EBITDA of 38.1 million euros.

However, the club faces a challenging outlook for the 2026-27 season due to the absence of European competition. The board, led by Jon Uriarte, has proposed a budget with projected revenues of 152.6 million euros, a significant drop caused by a predicted 50.7 million euro decrease in competition and broadcasting income. This shift is expected to result in a projected operating loss (EBITDA) of 3.2 million euros.

To manage this transition, the club plans to utilize its fund provision, which will decrease from 24.6 million to 7.5 million euros. Additionally, the club intends to invest 15 million euros in various projects, including over 9 million euros for the phased expansion of the San Mamés stadium, 2 million euros for Lezama infrastructure, and 2 million euros for sports medicine and business development technology.
