Atm celebrates 95 years with mobile art exhibitions on Milan trams

Milan's public transport company, Atm, is celebrating its 95th anniversary with an itinerant exhibition titled ‘La storia vale oro’ (History is worth gold). Starting September 12 and running through December, the project transforms three active trams into mobile art galleries.

The exhibition features approximately one hundred vintage photographs and iconic communication campaigns from the Atm Historical Archive. These displays, titled ‘Atm Manifesto – Storie, Viaggi e Design’, showcase the evolution of public transport and the city's urban and social transformations from the 1920s to the present day. The visual journey includes cityscapes and portraits of passengers, drivers, controllers, and technicians.

The exhibition is hosted on a historic Carrelli tram on line 1 and two Sirietto trams on lines 14 and 27. This design project previously earned Atm the 29th Compasso d’Oro Adi 2026 award, a prestigious international recognition in the field of design.
