ATME calls for mass military protest in Ceuta

The Association of Spanish Troops and Sailors (ATME) has called for a mass demonstration in Ceuta on September 16 at 20:00 in Plaza de los Reyes. The protest aims to support the Spanish Armed Forces, who report facing an unsustainable situation due to the ongoing migration crisis.

ATME representatives claim that military personnel are facing physical assaults, including stone-throwing, stabbings, and physical violence, resulting in injuries such as broken legs and dislocations. The association also highlighted the mental exhaustion of soldiers, noting that some have felt compelled to send their families away due to the volatility of the environment.

The mobilization, described as unprecedented for military personnel in the enclave, also invites members of the National Police and the Civil Guard to participate. The grievances include a lack of resources, insufficient legal protection, and the physical dangers encountered during surveillance missions, such as an incident in Benzú where a military vehicle was surrounded and pelted with stones.
