Atmos Renewables begins construction on Western Australia's largest wind farm
Construction has officially commenced on the Parron Maam Marang Wind Farm in Western Australia's Wheatbelt region. Owned by Atmos Renewables, the project is set to become the largest wind farm in the state.
The facility will feature 78 Vestas turbines with a total capacity of 470MW, which is expected to generate enough renewable energy to power approximately 350,000 homes. The project is a Western Australian Government Priority Project and is supported by the Australian Government’s Capacity Investment Scheme.
During the peak construction phase, the project is expected to create up to 400 local jobs. The wind farm is scheduled to become operational by late 2028, contributing to the state's transition away from coal-fired power generators, which are slated to close by the end of the decade.
