Atonement war drama trailer released starring Kenneth Branagh

Kino Lorber has released the official trailer for Atonement, an upcoming war drama directed by Reed Van Dyk. Based on a 2012 New Yorker article by Dexter Filkins, the film explores themes of guilt and redemption following the Iraq War.

The story follows Lou D’Alessandro, a U.S. Marine played by Boyd Holbrook, who is haunted by a split-second decision made during a firefight in Baghdad that devastated the Khachaturian family. Years later, D’Alessandro works with a journalist, Michael Reid, played by Kenneth Branagh, to seek reconciliation with the surviving family members.

The film, which premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, currently holds a 93% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes. It is scheduled for release in U.S. theaters on October 2, 2026.
