In a match lasting two hours and six minutes, Paul defeated the 100th-ranked Frenchman 6-4, 6-7, 6-3. Paul utilized his serve effectively, recording 17 aces and avoiding being broken throughout the match.

Paul is scheduled to face Corentin Moutet in the next round. The tournament has seen several French players exit the competition, including Bonzi, Felix Balshaw, and Moïse Kouame.

In another early round match, Valentin Vacherot was eliminated by Luca Van Assche. Vacherot, who recently reached the third round of the Shanghai Masters 1000, struggled with consistency, committing 49 unforced errors during his defeat (2/6, 6/4, 6/4). Following this loss, Vacherot dropped from 14th to 32nd in the ATP rankings.
