ATP CEO calls for modernization of Montreal tennis venue

ATP CEO ATP Liezer has indicated that the Montreal tennis venue requires modernization to remain competitive with other Masters 1000 tournaments. While praising current elements like the fan village and player lounge, Liezer noted that the stadium's age is becoming apparent compared to recently redeveloped facilities in cities like Cincinnati.

Tennis Canada is currently developing plans to modernize the IGA Stadium site. The proposed upgrades include the construction of a new 15,000-seat Centre Court featuring a retractable roof, along with additional practice and match-ready courts. Liezer expressed support for this vision, noting that increased capacity could boost revenue for reinvestment into Canadian tennis.
