ATP Rankings: João Fonseca drops to 29th as Jaime Faria hits career high
Brazilian tennis player João Fonseca has dropped to 29th in the ATP rankings. The decline follows his absence from several major tournaments, including the US Open and the ATP 500 in Tokyo and the Masters 1000 in Shanghai. Fonseca has been sidelined since August due to abdominal pain and has opted for a strategic break during the Asian tour to prioritize his physical and mental well-being.
Meanwhile, Portuguese player Jaime Faria has reached a career-high ranking of 61st. His rise follows a second-round appearance in Hangzhou, China. Faria is now the fifth-highest ranked Portuguese player in history, surpassing the previous record held by Frederico Gil. Other notable Portuguese players include Nuno Borges, currently ranked 49th, and João Sousa at 28th.
