Atrani Council votes to acquire Conservatorio di Santa Rosalia

The Atrani City Council has voted to transfer the entire heritage of the Conservatorio di Santa Rosalia to the municipality. This decision aims to prevent the historical complex from being sold to private entities or fragmented through alienation.

Founded in 1682, the institution is currently undergoing a liquidation process initiated by the Ministry of Education and Merit, which appointed an extraordinary commissioner in January 2024. Mayor Michele Siravo stated that the move is intended to protect both the historical monument, including the Church of Santa Geltrude, and the 55 families currently residing within the complex.

Siravo emphasized that the site should serve as a cultural, social, and educational space for the community rather than being ceded to external parties.
