AT&S stock soars as Austrian IC‑substrate maker fuels AI chip supply chain

AT&S Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik AG has posted a 460 % increase in its share price in 2026, outperforming larger semiconductor peers such as Intel, AMD and Micron. The company supplies high‑performance IC‑substrates that connect AI processors to printed‑circuit boards, a critical component for data‑center and high‑performance computing chips.

Under CEO Michael Mertin, AT&S recently expanded capacity for AMD, cementing a deal that anchors its role in the AI‑chip ecosystem. Analysts note that while the firm does not design chips, its substrates are essential for the operation of GPUs like those produced by NVIDIA, positioning AT&S as a key upstream supplier in the AI boom.

Despite the rally, analysts caution that the valuation remains moderate given broader market risks. The company’s growth is also supported by wider trends in digitisation, electrification and device miniaturisation.
