AT&T begins demolition of former EDS campus in Plano

Demolition is underway at the former Electronic Data Systems (EDS) campus in Plano, Texas, as AT&T prepares to construct its new billion-dollar-plus global headquarters. The controlled implosion includes the destruction of the iconic executive office building known as the ‘God Pod.’

The ‘God Pod’ earned its nickname due to its elevated, bridge-like design that physically separated senior executives from the rest of the workforce, symbolizing the company’s corporate hierarchy. The structure was a centerpiece of the campus, which was originally established in the late 1980s following land purchases by Ross Perot to create the Legacy business park.

AT&T’s new headquarters will be located at 5400 Legacy Drive, occupying a 54-acre site. The development follows a long history of corporate presence in the area, which includes former operations by EDS, Frito-Lay, and JCPenney. Developer KDC confirmed that construction is currently in progress at the site.
