AT&T completes $23 billion spectrum acquisition from EchoStar
AT&T has completed a significant $23 billion spectrum acquisition from EchoStar, adding approximately 50 MHz of low- and mid-band spectrum across the United States. The deal includes 20 MHz of nationwide 600 MHz low-band spectrum and 30 MHz of 3.45 GHz mid-band spectrum. This expansion is intended to improve network coverage and capacity to meet growing mobile data demands. To integrate these frequencies, AT&T has selected Ericsson to provide 600 MHz dual-band radios.
In its FY 2025 financial reporting, AT&T recorded revenue of nearly $125.6 billion, a 2.7% increase from the previous year, with a net income of approximately $21.9 billion. The company maintains a customer base of 120 million mobility subscribers and over 10.4 million fiber broadband customers. As the telecommunications landscape shifts toward fiber and 5G, AT&T continues to compete with Verizon Communications, which is focusing on network scale through acquisitions.
