AT&T secures $3bn+ fiber deal with Corning

AT&T and Corning Incorporated have entered into a multi-year supply agreement valued at more than $3 billion. Under the deal, Corning will provide next-generation fiber, cable, and connectivity solutions to support the expansion of AT&T’s fiber network across the United States.

The agreement marks a significant increase from a previous $1 billion commitment between the two companies in 2024. AT&T cited rising data volumes as a primary driver for the expansion, noting that the average fiber household now uses more than one terabyte of data per month—five times the level seen in 2016. This increased demand is expected to continue as AI, cloud services, and streaming traffic grow.

AT&T aims to bring fast, reliable internet to 60 million Americans by the end of 2030. The company is pursuing this goal through organic investment, its Gigapower joint venture with BlackRock, and recent commercial open-access agreements. The connectivity solutions provided by Corning will include the Evolv portfolio, which complies with Build America, Buy America provisions of the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program.
