AT&T to sell Mexican mobile business to Televisa and Fintech Holdings
AT&T has announced the sale of its mobile telephony business in Mexico for $2 billion to a consortium composed of Grupo Televisa and Fintech Holdings. The two partners will each hold a 50% stake in the deal. Fintech Holdings is a private investment firm owned by businessman David Martínez Guzmán.
The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to be finalized by the first quarter of 2027. This acquisition would place Mexico’s second-largest mobile operator under the control of Mexican entrepreneurs. At the end of 2025, AT&T Mexico held approximately 24.7 million subscribers.
Reports indicate that AT&T is exiting the Mexican market to refocus its assets on fiber optics, domestic 5G, and artificial intelligence in the United States. The company’s operational margin in Mexico was reported at 1.6% in 2025, with revenues of 85.4 billion pesos.
