Attack on Titan 3 is described as a retelling of the series storyline rather than a direct sequel to Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle. Producer Hideo Suzuki explained that the decision to cover the story from beginning to end was made because the previous game was released while the anime series was still ongoing.

The upcoming game will allow players to control an original character using ODM gear. The narrative follows a squad leader whose team is wiped out during their first mission, leaving the character traumatized. Developers aim to provide combat depth suitable for both casual and experienced players.
