Attaullah Tarar accuses KP government of facilitating terrorism
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government of facilitating terrorism. Tarar alleged that the provincial administration serves as a ‘B-team’ for the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and a ‘C-team’ for the Tehreek-i-Taliban Afghanistan (TTA).
Tarar specifically targeted KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, stating that his actions and rhetoric make him appear more like a TTP commander than a provincial leader. The minister highlighted a deteriorating security situation in KP, noting that 2,456 terror attacks have occurred in the province this year, resulting in 472 security personnel martyred and over 1,500 injuries.
Further allegations include the use of illegal mining and trade to fund militant activities and the attempt to politicize the provincial police through legislative reforms. Additionally, Tarar criticized the PTI for failing to condemn cross-border firing from Afghanistan in the Kurram region. Regarding domestic politics, Tarar claimed the PTI is retreating from its planned long march, which the party's political committee has officially postponed from its original September 27 date.
