Attaullah Tarar criticizes PTI governance and meets with broadcasters

Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of prioritizing the release of its incarcerated founder over essential governance. During a press conference in Islamabad, Tarar alleged that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has devoted virtually no time to public welfare, development, or security, instead focusing on political agitation.

Tarar suggested that provincial resources should instead be directed toward building universities, schools, hospitals, and modern IT centers in regions such as Lakki Marwat, Mardan, Nowshera, and Swabi. He contrasted the provincial administration with federal initiatives, such as the inauguration of an IT park and a fuel subsidy scheme.

In a separate engagement, Tarar met with satellite TV channel owners and representatives in Islamabad to discuss challenges facing the media industry. He assured broadcasters that the government would not proceed with any legislation affecting the sector without consulting all stakeholders, promising transparency and a level playing field for all industry players.
