Attempted ATM robberies reported in Mexico and Paraguay
In Ciudad Serdán, Mexico, authorities detained a man following an attempted robbery of a Banorte ATM. The incident occurred during the early hours of October 23 when the suspect entered a branch and attempted to steal the machine. Bank alarms were triggered, prompting a rapid response from the Municipal Public Security Secretariat. The suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended by local police and transferred to the municipal headquarters for legal processing.
In San Lorenzo, Paraguay, criminals attempted to detonate an ATM at a cooperative in the Reducto area using a gas-based method. Security footage showed suspects using gas canisters, oxygen, hoses, and a battery to create a spark, rather than using traditional explosives. The attempt was frustrated by the presence of nearby people and a security booth from a neighboring factory. Although police arrived quickly following a 911 call, the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle.
