Attica Governor seeks more EU funding for regional projects in Brussels
Nikos Hardalias, Governor of Attica and First Vice-President of the EPP Group in the European Committee of the Regions, participated in the 173rd Plenary Session of the European Committee of the Regions and EPP political group meetings in Brussels.
The meetings occur during negotiations for the European Union’s new Multiannual Financial Framework for the 2028–2034 period. A central focus of the discussions is the amount of funding allocated for regional development and the maintenance of social cohesion as a priority for the EU.
Hardalias advocated for increased European financial tools to support significant development projects in the Attica Basin. He emphasized the need to ensure adequate funding for regional programs, particularly for areas facing social and developmental inequalities, to improve public infrastructure and create safer, more resilient cities.
