Attica Group affirms full compliance with labor agreements on express ferry routes
Attica Group said it fully complies with Greek legislation and the applicable collective bargaining agreement in calculating wages for seafarers on the express routes of its ferry «Αριάδνη». The company argued that the pay‑calculation method has been in place for roughly three decades and is consistent with industry practice and the collective contract.
The dispute arose after the seafarers’ union PENEN mobilised, alleging miscalculations in the July payroll for the summer season when the vessel operates additional express services. Attica Group cited an inspection carried out by the Hellenic Maritime Federation, attended by port authorities, which found no breaches of law or the collective agreement. The firm also noted that the mobilisation was declared illegal by the courts and that such actions disrupt passengers and island communities. Express routes, according to the company, are needed to meet heightened summer transport demand and to improve island connectivity at the request of local residents.
