Attica police conduct school bus safety inspections
The Attica Traffic Police, in collaboration with the Region of Attica, conducted extensive inspections of school buses across various locations in Athens to mark the start of the new school year. The operation aimed to ensure the safe transportation of students by verifying strict adherence to safety regulations.
Authorities focused on several technical and administrative criteria, including tire condition, vehicle inspection certificates (KTEO), vehicle and driver age, and the possession of Professional Competence Certificates. Inspectors also checked the functionality of tachographs, the presence of required ‘School’ signage, the use of safety belts, and passenger capacity limits, particularly in older vehicles where unauthorized seating might have been added.
Konstantinos Markouizos, the Vice Regional Governor for Road Safety and Traffic Management, emphasized that student safety is the top priority and noted that the inspections cover all elements related to student protection.
