Attica Region announces €2.6 billion infrastructure program
Attica Governor Nikos Hardalias has presented the results of the first 30 months of his term, highlighting 352 projects with a total budget of €2.6 billion. Currently, 58.81% of these commitments are in the implementation phase.
A major focus of the regional plan is flood protection. Of the 64 planned anti-flood projects, 67.19% are either completed, in progress, or undergoing a tendering process. The program also includes 31 road safety projects, 76 projects aimed at improving green spaces, and 21 large metropolitan works designed to modernize the basin's infrastructure.
Social and economic initiatives include support for approximately 150,000 citizens through regional social structures and assistance to 1,044 businesses via the ‘Attiki On’ program. The Attica Region reportedly leads Greece in the absorption of European funds among regional and sectoral programs.
