Attica Region launches eating disorder awareness campaign

The Attica Region has launched a new public awareness campaign titled ‘Breaking the Silence on Eating Disorders.’ The initiative aims to facilitate the early recognition of warning signs, combat social stigma, and inform patients and their families about seeking specialized medical assistance.

Developed in collaboration with several academic psychiatric units from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens—including those at Aeginitio Hospital, Attikon Hospital, and Agia Sophia Children's Hospital—as well as the ‘EPISTREFO’ association for sufferers, the program emphasizes multidisciplinary care involving psychological, medical, and nutritional support.

The campaign is funded by the European Social Fund+ through the Attica Regional Development Fund. Planned activities include video presentations, the distribution of informative materials, and a public event scheduled for October 11, 2026, at Syntagma Square.
