Attica Region launches major road safety upgrades in Pentele
The Attica Region is carrying out extensive road‑safety works on five key streets in the Pentele municipality, including Agios Syllas Avenue, the Old Pentele Square and the streets of Anastasios Soufos, Agios Tryfonos and Dimitrios Paneti. The works cover roughly 25,010 m² of pavement and involve new surfacing, resurfacing, modern vertical signage, replacement of damaged safety curbs and guardrails, and repair of drainage and local road damage.
Regional Governor Nikos Chardalias inspected the progress together with Pentele Mayor Natasa Kosmopoulou. He stressed that the upgrades are part of a wider program of 300+ road‑safety projects slated for completion by the end of 2028, with a total budget of €192.9 million, of which 58 % is already active. The aim is to reduce hazardous spots, lower accident rates and improve safety for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists throughout the metropolitan area of Athens.
