Attica police conduct week-long traffic enforcement operation

The Attica Traffic Police Directorate conducted a week-long enforcement operation across the Attica basin from August 10 to August 17, 2026. During this period, authorities carried out 14,032 breathalyzer tests, resulting in 145 violations and 12 arrests for driving under the influence with blood alcohol levels exceeding 0.60 mg/l.

In total, 17 drivers were arrested. The operation also targeted speeding, with 422 vehicle checks conducted and 137 speeding violations recorded. Notably, some drivers were caught traveling at speeds of 161 and 163 km/h in zones where the limit is 70 km/h.

Overall, police issued 4,764 traffic violations covering offenses such as speeding, failure to wear protective helmets, mobile phone use while driving, and driving without a license. Authorities impounded 653 vehicles, 65 of which required towing, and confiscated 777 driving licenses and 255 vehicle registrations.
