Attila Kálnoki-Kiss denies resignation rumors
Hungarian State Secretary for Sport, Attila Kálnoki-Kiss, has officially denied rumors circulating on social media and in certain press outlets claiming he had submitted his resignation. In a statement on Facebook, Kálnoki-Kiss clarified that he never offered to resign and has no intention of doing so, accusing those spreading the news of either intentional disinformation or a lack of understanding regarding the professional sports world.
The State Secretary emphasized his ongoing commitment to his work alongside Interior Minister Gábor Pósfai. He highlighted his belief in the necessity of reforming the sports financing system and implementing a new conflict-of-interest law designed to separate Hungarian sports from direct political influence, a practice he noted has existed for nearly 80 years.
Kálnoki-Kiss also addressed recent scrutiny regarding the audit of 25 billion HUF in state funding for Ferencváros. He concluded by stating that a detailed report regarding the achievements and planned shifts for the future of Hungarian sports will be provided in November.
