Attorney criticizes legal conduct in BUWOG judge misconduct case
Nikolaus Rast, the defense attorney for BUWOG judge Marion Hohenecker, has criticized the actions of lawyers involved in the Grasser trial, stating their conduct “damages our profession.”
The controversy stems from an attempt by lawyers representing Grasser to report Hohenecker for abuse of office and bribery using documents allegedly provided by a suspected fraudster. The goal of this move was reportedly to seek a reopening of the BUWOG proceedings.
Rast further criticized the decision to file the complaint directly with the head of the Vienna Senior Public Prosecutor's Office rather than the standard police or public prosecution channels. He argued that this specific procedure indirectly implies misconduct by the Vienna State Police and the standard public prosecution services by suggesting they cannot handle the matter discreetly.
