Attorney criticizes ZUS for targeting pregnant women

Attorney Katarzyna Nabożna-Motała has shared her personal struggle with the Polish Social Insurance Institution (ZUS), describing the agency's oversight of pregnant women and new mothers as harassment.

Nabożna-Motała reported experiencing significant stress due to frequent audits and threats to withhold benefits during her pregnancy and motherhood. She noted that ZUS has been questioning the business activities of women who received higher benefits between 2012 and 2018, leading to legal disputes that have lasted since 2019. The attorney argues that the current procedures create a sense of insecurity for women and calls for a reinterpretation of regulations to prevent bureaucratic burdens from impacting the health and well-being of mothers.
