Kejagung seizes Rp1 trillion from PT PSMI in Lampung forest corruption case

The Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) has seized approximately Rp1.003 trillion and US$166,000 from PT Pemuka Sakti Manis Indah (PSMI) in connection with a corruption investigation in Lampung.

The case involves the alleged illegal use of forest areas belonging to PT Inhutani V for sugarcane plantations in the Way Kanan region. Investigators claim that PT PSMI managed approximately 32,375 hectares of land without proper authorization from the Minister of Forestry, a practice that reportedly began in 2007. The illegal land use is estimated to have caused state financial losses exceeding Rp2 trillion.

Director of Investigation Saiful Bahri Siregar stated that the seized funds were handed over by a company employee, identified by the initials VRL, and have been deposited into a government account at Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI). The seizure was approved by the South Jakarta District Court.

To date, investigators have examined between 47 and 50 witnesses and three experts, blocked at least 10 company bank accounts, and seized various documents. While the investigation is ongoing, no suspects have been officially named.
