Transport sectors in Paraguay and Argentina face rising costs and infrastructure decay

Transport sectors in Paraguay and Argentina are facing significant operational challenges. In Luque, Paraguay, the Asociación de Transportistas Internos del Paraguay (Asotrainter) has requested an urgent meeting with municipal authorities to increase bus fares from G. 2,500 to G. 3,500, citing rising fuel and operating costs.

In Argentina, the Unión Tranviarios Automotor (UTA) has petitioned the government for immediate action to address the deterioration of the national road network. The union highlighted issues such as deep potholes, lack of lighting, and poor signage across approximately 40,000 kilometers of routes. Additionally, the UTA reported precarious working conditions for drivers, including inadequate rest areas and terminal insecurity, alongside an aging vehicle fleet that increases the risk of mechanical failures.
