ATUC requests 12 billion euros for Spanish public transport
The Association of Urban and Metropolitan Public Transports (ATUC) is calling for 12,000 million euros to ensure the Spanish public transport system can meet rising demand through 2030. According to the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC), demand is expected to rise significantly, with a projected 36% increase for buses and a 50% increase for rail transport by 2030. In 2025, public transport saw over 5,784 million passengers. ATUC warns that the current system is not prepared to absorb this anticipated growth without adequate investment.
