Austrian ATX Index Falls 0.32% Amid Energy and Lenzing Losses
The Vienna Stock Exchange's ATX slipped roughly 0.32% on Tuesday, closing near 6,334 points. Losses were driven by a 14% drop in Lenzing AG shares after the company announced a cut of 2,000 jobs and a €300 million capital increase, a 9.8% fall in Palfinger AG, and a 7% decline in AT&S AG. Energy stocks also weakened, with OMV, SBO, Verbund and EVN each losing around 1‑4% as Brent crude fell following a de‑escalation in the Iran‑U.S. confrontation.
U.S. market factors added to the mood: President Donald Trump reiterated optimism about a diplomatic solution with Iran, and investors awaited the Federal Reserve's interest‑rate decision, expected to keep rates steady. Raiffeisen Bank International was the only ATX component to post a gain, up about 3.6%.
Analysts noted that the mixed European market performance reflected both regional geopolitical tension and the upcoming U.S. monetary policy meeting.
