ATX index slips as Austrian market records modest losses amid US‑Iran tensions
On Thursday the ATX Prime gained 0.05% to 3,185.09 points, with Lenzing, voestalpine, Vienna Airport, Semperit and UBM Development among the top gainers, while Kapsch TrafficCom, Marinomed Biotech and others fell. OMV was the most‑traded stock and Erste Group held the largest market capitalisation in the index.
The broader ATX closed down 0.52% at 6,471.55 points, reflecting a broader negative sentiment across European markets. Voestalpine rose 2.4% after an analyst raised its price target, while Raiffeisen Bank International slipped 3.2% and Erste Group fell 1.4%. Insurance firms Vienna Insurance Group and Uniqa declined, whereas Wienerberger gained 3.8% and Verbund dropped 2.6%. The market was weighed down by the escalation of the US‑Iran conflict and rising oil prices, which dampened confidence in Austria’s economic outlook. Unicredit Bank Austria’s economic indicator fell to –1.8 points in June, and GDP growth for the first half of 2026 was estimated at 0.8% year‑on‑year.
