Argentina road safety: New speed cameras and traffic incidents reported

Various road incidents and safety measures have been reported across different regions in Argentina.

In the La Plata area, AUBASA is investing approximately $100,000 to install four new speed cameras on Autovía 2 near El Peligro. These devices, intended to reduce fatal accidents, will feature LED displays to provide real-time speed feedback to drivers.

On National Route 34, the reinstallation of speed cameras near Urundel and Yuto has sparked controversy. A local judge confirmed these devices are not authorized by the National Agency for Road Safety, rendering any resulting fines invalid.

In Gualeguay, traffic on National Route 12 was temporarily interrupted following a truck fire. The vehicle, carrying a load of potatoes, caught fire due to an engine malfunction near the Pellegrini bridge. While the driver escaped uninjured and the cargo was largely preserved, the incident caused significant regional delays before the road was cleared.

Additionally, a collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck in La Plata caused injuries and traffic congestion at a major intersection, exacerbated by local power outages affecting traffic signals.
