Aubervilliers gas explosion kills child and injures seven

A gas leak caused a violent explosion in a residential house on Rue Paul Verlaine in Aubervilliers, Seine-Saint-Denis, on Saturday night. The blast caused the building to collapse, resulting in the death of a child, reported to be between two and three years old.

Seven other people were injured in the incident, including six members of the family living in the house and one passerby. At least two of the injured were reported to be in critical condition or in “absolute urgency.”

Emergency services, including approximately 110 firefighters from the Paris Fire Brigade, police, and medical teams, were deployed to the scene to search for victims and secure the area. A judicial investigation has been opened by the Bobigny prosecutor's office to determine the exact circumstances and cause of the gas leak.
