Aubin Sparfel wins Gran Premio de Valonia
French cyclist Aubin Sparfel, riding for Decathlon-CMA CGM, won the 66th edition of the Gran Premio de Valonia on Wednesday. The 196.8-kilometer race took place between Seraing and the Citadel of Namur in Belgium.
Sparfel secured the victory in a close finish, overtaking compatriot Romain Grégoire of Groupama-FDJ United in the final meters. Belgian rider Milan Fretin of Cofidis finished third. The top ten riders all completed the course with the same time.
This win marks a significant milestone for the 20-year-old, following his recent success at the Tour du Porvenir. The race featured several breakaway attempts, including a six-rider group that held a lead of over three minutes mid-race before being caught by the peloton.
